Joss Stone Kidnap Plot: Singer Feels "Sorry" for Men, Wants to Ask "Why"? (VIDEO)
Singer Joss Stone says she feels "sorry" for the men who plotted to kill her in 2011.
"There was a big part of me that felt sorry for them, sorry for their mums. I kept thinking, 'What drives people to do something so awful as this?" the 26-year-old said, speaking for the first time about the experience in an interview with the Daily Mail's Mail on Sunday Event Magazine.
The singer appeared at the Exeter Crown Court in England in March to testify against the two men who plotted to kill her in 2011. Kevin Liverpool, 35, and Junior Bradshaw, 32 drove 230 miles to the Stone's neighborhood with plans to "decapitate" the singer and "throw her body in a river," according to reports.

The plot began after Stone attended the wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton. Stone allegedly had connections to the royal family. Notes that were written by the men and found by police expressed "disapproval" of the Royal Court, according to The Telegraph.
Despite suggestions that the men may have been motivated to Stone's Royal connections, the singer said she would have still liked to question the men about their motives.
"I did actually want to ask them why. Was it because of me? Was it because I sang a song they hated? Was it because of something I did?" she said.
It is unclear why Stone's associations were targeted over others.
"Joss Stone associates with members of the Royal family," prosecutor Simon Morgan said in court. "Her concerts have been attended by members of it and she was invited to the Royal wedding at the very end of April that year. Hence she became a target."
The men however, driving a Fiat Punto, crashed their car before arriving at the singer's house and aroused suspicion from some of the locals. Police later discovered a samurai sword, body bags, balaclavas and gaffer tape in the car.
In plotting the crime, the men used old footage of an MTV "Cribs" episode that featured a tour of Stone's house. Liverpool also conducted internet research to discover more about the singer, according to The Telegraph.
Stone claimed to have no knowledge of the crime until police notified her.
"Apart from someone (police) coming around to say someone is trying to kill me, it was a really nice day," she told the court stating that she had lived in the Devon area for sometime and had always believed it to be very safe. "I didn't really have a lock on my door ... But I do now."
Stone acknowledge having performed for the royal family before but suggested that she did not have any strong ties to the family.
"I have sung for them a couple of times- once for the Princess Diana concert. After that there was another charity event for (Prince) Harry," she in court, adding that she was unsure of why she received a wedding invitation. "I don't know. I guess they just invited me because they thought it was nice to invite me."
