'Jurassic World 2' Release Date & Update: Movie Confirmed for Trilogy, Plot to Include New Research of InGen

"Jurassic World 2" is still years away from now but several fans are already looking out for updates on the upcoming sequel of the hit "Jurassic World" series. Reports say though that the series isn't going to stop at a second movie. According to a report by Science Fiction, the movie has been confirmed to be made into a trilogy.

The source said that Universal had wanted to make it into a trilogy from the very start as long as box office sales and viewers wanted more. And now, reports say that director Colin Trevorrow has been working with Steven Spielberg to come up with the best outline that they can for the film.

"Colin Trevorrow is busy working on an outline," Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley revealed to The Hollywood Reporter. "He's been working with Steven [Spielberg]. And they have an idea for the next two movies, actually. It was designed as a trilogy, unbeknownst to us. It's a happy surprise."

As for the plot of the movie, Crossmap detailed that there's no confirmed plot yet for the sequel as the first film was just recently released. But based on the events from the last film, there's a possibility that it will cover what happened after Chief Geneticist Dr. Henry Wu (B.D. Wong) escaped Jurassic World with a few embryos, bringing them to the Costa Rican mainland. The sequel will likely feature the same embryos and the new research of Dr. Wu with InGen.

And since it was revealed that InGen originally planned to weaponized the dinosaurs and control them, it's possible that a much improved version of the weaponized velociraptors in the first movie will be seen in the sequel. The dinosaurs will no longer be confined in the island though, as noted in Scified.

Filming is set to start sometime in 2017 with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard returning to reprise their roles as Owen and Claire. "Jurassic World 2" is expected to be released in summer 2018 while the third movie is expected sometime in 2019 or 2020.
