'Just Cause 3' Release Date News, Update: Square Enix Won't Include Mod Support for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

Modding is probably one of the best things that could make a game more interesting to play with. In this year's game releases, it was heard that Square Enix might provide mod support for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version of its upcoming open world action-adventure video game, "Just Cause 3." However, recent developments suggest that this might not be the case at all.

During a conversation with WhatCulture.com (via SegmentNext.com), game director Roland Lesterlin clarified the issue of whether or not there will be mod support for the console version of the game.

"We have nothing to announce on that front for JC3. Instead, we're focused on making our in-game upgrade system reflect the ethos of mods. Those should enable players to have a huge amount of creativity," he said.

This may come as a big disappointment for fans who have long been hoping that this aspect of gaming would be included in the forthcoming title. Speculations had surfaced earlier when, at the E3 2015 event, Lesterlin said that the studio has also "been wanting to do quite a lot of that stuff for a while" and that it is their utmost goal to "support mods" in the game.

Sharing their own take of the story, Segment Next said that perhaps SE has no other choice but to hold back on the mod support system to meet the fast approaching launching date which is slated to happen this December 1.

Another way of seeing it is that Lesterlin's statement did not concretely say that there is no mod for the game. It's just that it is not on the company's top priority list as of yet.

For avid modders and fans of the franchise, they may have to resort to getting the PC version of "Just Cause 3."
