'Justice League Dark' News, Cast, Spoilers: Director's Seat Still Hasn't Been Filled
DC is obviously getting the ball rolling for its cinematic universe. As the studio is now rumored to be focusing on "Justice League Dark," many fans are waiting on who will take the director's seat Guillermo del Toro has left.
Guillermo del Toro spearheaded the development of "Justice League Dark," but his recent departure from the project caused worry among fans that it would also be the end of the film. In the past week, a series of casting rumors has been circulating the Internet and this sparked hope in many that the project is still in the works. According to Heroic Hollywood, some rumored cast includes Colin Farrell as Constantine, Ewan McGregor for Jason Blood/The Demon, and Monica Belluci for Madame Xanadu. A new working title, "Dark Universe," has also been included in the update.
News from JoBlo now reveals a shortlist of directors, topped by "Big Bad Wolves" Israeli directors Aharon Keshales and Navot Paushado, alongside Fede Alvarez, known for his notable remake of "Evil Dead." All three directors have obviously had experience with grimm-themed movies.
Looking at the previous works of the chosen directors, it can be said that perhaps the studio is looking for someone who can incorporate the "darkness" that the film is expected to present. With regard to schedule, it doesn't seem to pose any hindrance as Keshales and Papushado are currently not involved with any project, while Alvarez is in post-production of "A Man in the Dark."
For now, there is no official confirmation yet from DC Entertainment as to who will take the reign on "Dark Universe," formerly known as "Justice League Dark." No release date has been set as well for the movie, thus fans should stay tuned for the next updates to come.
