'Justice League' Movie News: 'Superman' Excited about Working with 'Aquaman'
Positive reviews courtesy of those privileged to see "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" ahead of its U.S. showing date are coming in, and this early, people are already anticipating that "Justice League: Part 1" will be even more awesome as more DC superheroes join forces in the said movie. Henry Cavill, who will don the Superman suit for the third time in "Justice League," has said that he can't wait for the cameras to start grinding for the filming of the upcoming DC movie, and one of the reasons for which is for him to act alongside Jason Momoa, who will be portraying Aquaman.
"I'm looking forward to expanding on the DC Cinematic Universe, and finally getting a chance to open up that world. There's a thousand and one rich stories in there. I'm looking very, very forward to interacting with Aquaman, especially!" he said when he was interviewed during the premiere of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" in New York earlier this week.
While it's true that, for the '70s kids Aquaman is one of the major DC superheroes, especially on the hit TV animated series "Superfriends," his importance was overshadowed by other originally lesser-known DC characters. However, things are about to change for the King of Atlantis as Aquaman's significance in the DC Universe is about to experience a resurgence.
Apart from having a cameo role in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and having a bigger role in the upcoming "Justice League: Part 1" movie, the character will also have its standalone film feature slated for a 2018 release.
"It's massive. Jason [Momoa] and I were talking about Aquaman and I love that people underestimate the character. I feel like hopefully we'll be able to share the love that we have as readers of the character because the jokes about him are fun, but he's got so much depth to him, no pun intended. It's really great to see him finally on the big screen," enthused Geoff Johns, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer.
Meanwhile, according to director Zack Snyder, "Justice League: Part 1" is only the working title of the movie yet, and he is yet to come up with an official label for which. It is slated for a Nov. 16, 2017 showing date and will feature a reunion for the triumvirate of Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and Gal Gadot as they reprise their "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" roles as Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, respectively. Other confirmed cast members to suit up as DC superheroes are Momoa, Ezra Miller (The Flash), Amber Heard (Mera), and Ray Fisher (Cyborg).
