'Justice League:Part 1' Movie News: Amber Heard is Mera, Aquaman's Wife
It seems that "Justice League: Part 1" is already starting to shape up. After it was initially reported that the upcoming DC and Warner Bros. movie will already start filming next month, another star has declared that she is joining the movie, too, and will breathe life to the character of Mera, Aquaman's better half and queen of the Atlantis: Amber Heard.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Heard finally ended all speculations saying that she will be part of the movie as she admitted to the veracity of the rumors. Apart from her admission that she will be playing the role of Mera, the 29-year old actress also gave hints as to how the moviegoers can expect her to look in the movie.
"It's interesting. It's like, half suit of armor, half scales... it's strange... We're in the process of building it now, so it's coming along," she revealed.
With Heard's confirmation of her "Justice League: Part 1" participation, it has become more apparent that DC is, indeed, bent on adding more characters to the said movie. While the inclusion of the characters of Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) in the movie is obvious and has long been confirmed, little have been known as to who other superheroes from the DC Universe will be included in the first installment of the "Justice League" movie.
In the "Justice League" animated series that ran on the Cartoon Network from 2001-2004, the league of heroes was composed of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and the Flash. When the show expanded and included more superheroes from 2004-2006, it was renamed "Justice League Unlimited." It was during this period when the recurring characters of Aquaman and Mera were featured.
Meanwhile, apart from making her big-screen debut as Mera on "Justice League: Part 1," Heard is also reprising her role in the standalone film feature of Aquaman, which will still be top-billed by Momoa, who is known for his Khal Drogo role on the hit HBO series, "Game of Thrones."
"Justice League: Part 1" is slated for a November 17, 2017 release while "Aquaman" is scheduled to hit the theaters on July 27, 2018.
