Justin Guarini 'Nowhere Near' Poverty: 'American Idol' Alum Fires Back at Article
"American Idol" alum Justin Guarini blogged about his experience of fatherhood and responsibilities he is currently facing. The blog entry set off a firestorm after People magazine picked up the piece and published it on their website, yet Guarini has refuted the piece and said that it was a complete misunderstanding.
"Obviously you completely missed the point of my letter @peoplemag," Guarini tweeted. "News isn't news anymore, and I'm nowhere near poverty #Twisted my truth."
Guarini's blog entry described his life post-"Idol" fame and showed a real side to the former star.

"There was a time when I would have had a car service drive me from my home to work," Guarini wrote. "Now I drive myself to the station and take the train. Now I budget. I have spent days skipping meals in order to make sure I have enough. To make sure my children, and my wife have enough."
That led to the assumption that Guarini was struggling with his finances and "having trouble making ends meet" according to the People magazine article. Guarini, after reading the piece, became upset at the way his life was portrayed; he merely wanted to speak about his life now but is "nowhere near poverty."
"There was a time when I would have thrown down cash for a house and had any number of lovers in and out the door. A flashy car and clothes to match. An ego to trump them all," Guarini blogged. "Now I rent a home filled with love. I have a wife whom I love…"
"Now I tell you all this to reintroduce myself to you. As I am now. To take you with me on this new adventure, to hopefully regain and surpass all that I had before…but this time with a family. This time with grounding, and joy, and peace that comes from knowing I love myself. Really love myself," Guarini concluded.
He is currently the father of two and is scheduled to star on Broadway opposite Orlando Bloom and Condola Rashad in "Romeo and Juliet."
