Austin Peay have a tough battle on their hands as they face a collegiate basketball heavyweight in Kansas in the first round of the NCAA March Madness.

The matchup is on March 17, 2016 at 4:00 PM ET.

After finishing fourth in the Ohio Valley – West, the Governors have a tallied 18-17 record. While it may not be the most impressive, they still have the capabilities that have seen them reach the bracket.

Thanks to Chris Horton, the Governors have been a surprise team this year. Horton has averaged a double-double so far this season with 18.5 points per game and 11.8 rebounds per night.

Josh Robinson adds to the team in scoring with 16.5 per contest, while Khalil Davis has 11.7 per night.

And carrying them to the tournament is an excellent run of form as they have won their last five games heading into their clash against Kansas.

Austin Peay beat out SE Missouri St. 83-75, then they went and dominated Tennessee Tech 92-72 away from home.

Next up were Tennessee St and Belmont which were close games but the Governors did enough to get the win.

Finally, a trip to Tenn-Martin resulted in a 10-point win and they are now hoping that they can make moves to upset the number one seed.

On the other hand, Kansas have amassed a very impressive 30-4 record to top the Big 12 division. They have done so with dominance and they are easily the favourite to take the title home yet again this year.

Perry Ellis leads the team in scoring with 16.5 points per night, while Wayne Selden Jr and Frank Mason III both average around 13.4 points per game to help the team.

Much like Austin Peay, the Jayhawks finished their last five games in wins as they dominated teams like Texas, Kansas St. And West Virginia to prepare themselves for the biggest stage in college basketball.
