Kanye West Video Game Based on 'Only One' Coming Soon?

Rapper Kanye West just announced he is developing a video game to pay tribute to his mother, who passed away in 2007.

Recording artist, rapper and songwriter, Kanye West is currently in the process of creating his own video game, which draws inspiration from his mother, Dr. Donda West, who succumbed to heart disease in November 2007 following complications from liposuction and breast reduction surgery.

West's upcoming video game project will be based on his recording of "Only One," the rapper's 2014 collaboration with Beatles icon, Sir Paul McCartney, featuring lyrics West wrote about his mother and North, his daughter with reality star, Kim Kardashian.

"The idea is, it's my mother going through the gates of heaven and you have to bring her to the highest gates of heaven by holding her to the light," West explained in an interview with WWPR-FM, New York.

According to West, "Only One's" seemingly metaphysical lyrics, which he claims he wrote under a trance he cannot remember, comprises a conversation the rapper imagines he had with his late mother speaking through him about his 20-month old daughter, North.

The game, which has been in development for half a year, marks the rapper's first foray into video game development. He has previously been featured in other games as an actor, such as in "Kanye Quest 3030," where the artist is sucked into a wormhole and whisked into the future to do battle with evil clones of other recording artists, Eminem, Jay-Z, and Tupac Shakur.

West hasn't disclosed when his game is slated for release, but did mention that the project is 80 percent complete.

West's "Only One" game-in-development showcases the rapper's trademark display of unpredictability. In his storied career so far, West has released his own clothing lines (Pastelle Clothing and DW Kanye West), collaborated with Adidas and Nike for sports shoe designs, bought the franchise to open a chain of Fatburger restaurants, and designed footwear for Giuseppe Zanotti and Bape.
