Kanye West Friendly, Explains Himself to LA Paps

Kanye West seems to be ready for a better relationship with the paparazzi in Los Angeles.

West, the 36-year-old rap mogul and boyfriend to reality television star Kim Kardashian, has been charged with criminal battery and attempted grand theft for allegedly attacking a photographer last July. However, he joked with photographers in the Calabasas community while putting gas in his car Friday.

"We in this together," he told them while in a cheerful mood, TMZ reports.

West even went on to explain why he lashed out at the photographer in the attack that took place last July.

"That's the day I found out my grandfather was not gonna make it," he said, according to TMZ. "He died two weeks later."

The rapper seems to have a newfound respect for photographers, after returning from Paris Fashion week where he also showed respect for international photographers.

"You got total respect for yourself. You have respect for the people that you're photographing," West told the French paparazzi in a video that appears on YouTube. "You also take time off at eight o'clock. You're not around people's houses. I just really appreciate and respect that."

The rapper even went as far as shaking the paparazzi's hand.

"And I understand that you have to make a living. Let me shake your hand," West said. "I appreciate that."

Before he went to France the rapper was ambushed by paparazzi at 4 a.m., which caused him to lash out at the photographers after they asked how things were going.

"Don't say anything to me," West said, according to X17 Online. "You are outside my house at 4 a.m. telling me, 'How's it going?' It's not going good. ... Y'all here to make money off of us. That's how it's going."
