Kardashian Divorce Trial Date Set; Humphries Delay Request Denied

Kim Kardashian's divorce from Kris Humphries has had a trial date set, after a judge confirmed May 6 would be the day the former couple finally gets to court in their long drawn out split.

Reality TV star, Kardashian, and NBA player, Humphries, have been separated since 2011, when Kardashian filed for divorce on Oct. 31.

The couple had only been married for 72 days when the reality TV personality made the court filing. She has since gone on to develop a serious relationship with rapper, Kanye West, and they are expecting their first baby in July.

It has been reported that Kardashian wanted the divorce to be finalized prior to the baby's birth.

The May divorce trial is expected to last around three to five days, and has been complicated by Humphries' refusal to accept a divorce.

He has claimed that the whole wedding was a sham and a publicity stunt by Kardashian to boost her reality TV ratings. He allegedly wants the court to grant an annulment instead of a divorce. Kardashian, meanwhile, has vehemently denied the accusations.

On Friday, two judges determine that Humphries and his legal team had sufficient time to prepare for a trial on May 6. Humphries had asked for the divorce proceedings to be delayed until after the basketball season was over, but that request has been refused with the judges absolute on not giving Humphries special treatment.

Meanwhile, Kris Humphries' attorney, Marshall Waller, reportedly stepped down as the NBA player's attorney recently citing "irremediable breakdown of the attorney-client relationship" in court documents.

The pair reportedly do not agree on the case, according to TMZ.

Humphries, who is insisting on an annulment of his 72-day marriage to Kardashian as opposed to her request for a divorce, is still represented by his Minnesota-based attorney Lee Hutton. However, he will now need to hire a new California-based attorney.
