Kate Middleton First Love Revealed? Duchess 'Heartbroken' Before Prince William

Kate Middleton is admittedly enjoying motherhood and she is happier than ever in her marriage to Prince William however new reports claim that before meeting the love of her life, she was left heartbroken by her first love.

Before meeting The Duke of Cambridge, 31, in 2001, the Duchess reportedly dated Harry Blakelock while she attended Wiltshire boarding school Marlborough College, at age 16. Despite falling in love with Blakelock, he reportedly ended the relationship to pursue his dreams of traveling and Middleton, 31, was so devastated that she refused to date anyone else for three years, according to Now magazine UK.

Author and royal editor for The Mail On Sunday, Katie Nicholl, made the revelation in her new biography "Kate: The Future Queen."

"Harry Blakelock was Kate's first real love. He was widely acknowledged as the best-looking boy at the school," Nicholl told Now.

"Harry was in the year above Kate and was very handsome, charming, good at sports and popular. He was a real catch," she continued adding "Kate described him as her 'first proper love,' so it knocked her when he dumped her to go traveling."

Middleton, who married William in a globally televised royal wedding in April 2011, has undoubtedly moved on from that challenging time in her life. The Duke and Duchess welcomed the birth of their first child, Prince George Alexander Louis, in July and they are said to be thrilled.

In August the royal couple emerged together publicly for the first time since welcoming the birth of baby George to kick off the Ring O'Fire Ultra Marathon in Anglesey. Middleton, who appeared happy and relaxed, reportedly gushed about motherhood.

"I said 'How's he (George) doing?' She said 'He's doing really well, he's with his grandma,'" one onlooker told the Telegraph U.K. Kate revealed that "George has been very good and is sleeping well."

The Duchess, whose parents moved in to Kensington Palace to assist with the baby, is said to be adjusting well to motherhood.

"We were talking about the joy she was having from George and how quick he was changing, she couldn't quite believe it. She's enjoying every minute of it."

"He's getting quite huge, she said," another insider revealed.

In August William joked about the intensity of first-time parenting by likening it to his duties as a RAF search and rescue pilot. The Duke and Duchess have reportedly been very hands on in caring for the newborn.

"I have to say that I thought Search and Rescue duties over Snowdonia were physically and mentally demanding, but looking after a three week-old baby is up there!" he joked.
