Kate Middleton Makeover Will See Duchess Wearing Couture, Lower Hemlines, Heirloom Jewels?

Kate Middleton is reportedly undergoing a makeover ahead of her upcoming royal tour of Australia and New Zealand.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 32, has become somewhat of a fashion icon in recent years however Queen Elizabeth II has reportedly insisted that she made adjustments to her wardrobe. Some of these changes include adding couture dresses with lower hemlines as well as heirloom jewels and the Queen's personal dresser Angela Kelly is expected to assist Middleton in her image overhaul.

"Angela has been asked to start selecting jewels ahead of the trip," a source told The Mail on Sunday.

"She knows most of the pieces in the Queen's private collection," the source continued. "Her understanding is crucial because this trip will be about Kate appearing more Royal than ever – you can expect to see a lot more tiaras and the Queen will be watching closely."

Middleton and Prince William are believed to have obtained a passport for baby George Alexander Louis in September ahead of the trip, which will take place later this year.

The trip will mirror the late Princess Diana and Prince Charles' 1983 trip to Australia which marked a then nine-months-old William's first trip abroad. Prior to the trip, Queen Elizabeth II first had to give permission for William, now 31, to travel on the same plane as his father as royal protocol dictates an heir and the next in line must not fly together.

"We are all very hopeful of coming to Australia next year," William said in August.

John Key, who is the prime minister of New Zealand, reportedly met with both Middleton, 31, and William during a recent stay with the Queen at her Summer residence, Balmoral in Scotland. It was there that the Duchess reportedly expressed her desire to visit the Kiwi nation.

"Yes we discussed with them, obviously they'd be most welcome to pay a visit. Obviously that's subject to their diary," Key told reporters last year.

"I know that the Duchess is very keen to come to New Zealand," he continued "She hasn't been before, the Duke's been on a number of occasions. So hopefully he'll return some time soon."
