Kate Middleton & Prince William to Host Dinner for the Obamas
United States of America President Barack Obama and his First Lady, Michelle Obama, are going on a royal dinner in London. According to a report by Us Weekly, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Duke of Cambridge Prince William will host a dinner for the Obamas this coming Friday, April 22. Prince William's brother, Prince Harry, will also be joining them in the special rendezvous.
USA Today detailed that the said event will take place at the Kensington Palace after the POTUS and his wife have lunch with Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle. Their lunch, which is a day after the Queen's 90th birthday, will be joined by Prince Philip.
"Their Royal Highnesses are very much looking forward to welcoming President and Mrs. Obama to Kensington Palace," a press statement confirmed on Monday, April 18. Hollywood Life said that the dinner is not anything grand or very big though as the royal family is said to have prepared an intimate dinner with the leaders of America.
As for the reason of visit of President Obama and First Lady Michelle, Time noted that the president will reportedly lobby to keep the U.K. in the European Union. The source said that London Mayor Boris Johnson has given advice to the chief executive not to wade into the debate. Nonetheless, the dinner is set and everyone involved is already looking forward for it. Also, the visit is part of Obama's six-day, three country foreign trip.
The royal family and the Obamas have long shared a warm relationship with one another. The Obamas met the duke and the duchess in May 2011 when they put into execution their first royal duty as married couple.
Prince William also crossed paths with President Obama in the Oval Office in Washington DC in 2014, which was around the time their first child, Prince George, was born.
