Kathie Lee and Hoda Booze Drought Over: Fans Raise Concern (VIDEO)

Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb have come to the end of their month without alcohol challenge. But some users seem disappointed.

Kathie Lee and Hoda toasted to a booze-a-palooza Wednesday morning on the Today show after committing to going 30 days without any alcohol on-air. The agreement, however, did not extend to off the set, where the women allegedly refueled.

"What helped them was that that they continued to drink," Savannah Guthrie said during the festivities. "Behind the set, and during commercials. I think the fact that they didn't stay sober during their month of sobriety really eased the tension around here."

"I've never seen crankier, moodier women in my entire life," Matt Lauer joked about the women's sobriety. "All I can say about them drinking again is hallelujah."

But some users pointed out that having a drinking addiction was no laughing matter.

"I really couldn't believe the whole cast of the Today Show was making jokes about how these two are so dependent on booze," one concerned fan wrote on the Today show blog. "Yes, lots of people drink, and moderate consumption can be healthy, but for many Americans, it goes way beyond that."

The blogger went on to suggest that both women should be more compassionate and attempt to do an episode on the problems of alcohol abuse.

"Anyone who has experienced the pain of having an alcoholic family member, or first-hand experience with the health problems that even slightly-more-than-moderate consumption can bring on, knows what I'm talking about," the fan wrote. "Please Hoda and Kathie Lee, have a serious discussion about the problems alcohol can cause."

Kathie Lee and Hoda run the late morning show on NBC and are often pictured with drinks in their hand.

"What bothers me is the need they appear to have for that drink every show. It's like the show isn't fun if they don't have that drink," Carol Hardison commented on the women's Facebook.
