Keith Richards reveals plans for new Rolling Stones album

The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has revealed that the rock band has something in store for their fans come 2016.

Keith Richards appeared as a guest at iHeartRadio's live Q&A session and said they have "definite plans" to create a new album next year. He said the group met in London recently and agreed to begin the project for 2016, according to The Guardian.

"[A new album] looks closer. Don't know where, don't know when yet … We had a little chat,
The Guardian quotes Richards. "We were just saying, 'We gotta get in the studio right? Right?' 'That's agreed. Okay, boys, that's agreed…'"

The upcoming project by The Rolling Stones is significant because this will be the first time since 2005 that the rock band will release a new album. Together with his bandmates Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, and Charlie Watts, Richards released their last album titled "A Bigger Bang" in 2005, Radio reports.

The Rolling Stones is due to have a South American tour this February, and Richards believes they could all begin working on their new project right after the tour. He even hinted that they could try to begin recording "before Christmas," although he acknowledged that it would be doubtful because of the bulk of events that the season carries, the report relays.

Earlier this year, Jagger teased a new material for their possible new album. He said the new material is made up of songs he has written recently and other songs he had written in the past few years. The songs, however, still have not yet been recorded.

At present, Keith Richards is promoting his first solo album since 1992, and this one is titled "Crosseyed Heart." He has been repeatedly voicing out his desire to have The Rolling Stones members reunited and put together another album, the report details.

The veteran rock band's guitarist even created a documentary titled "Keith Richards: Under The Influence," which details his desire to push through with a new Rolling Stones record.
