Kendrick Lamar New Album 2017 Latest Rumors: Artist Dropping Another Album on Easter?
Fans of Kendrick Lamar may have just been treated to a brand-new album called "DAMN," but some of them are still convinced that the hip-hop recording artist is still set on releasing a follow-up album on Easter Sunday.
Two theories are currently circulating about the rumored album release this weekend. According to FACT magazine, some fans have seen a narrative pattern in Kendrick's fourth album, which was released on Good Friday, April 14, the same day that Jesus died on the cross.
The opening track on the album titled "BLOOD" seemed to be hinting at the artist dying. This, along with Kendrick's deep Christian beliefs and a cryptic line from the song "The Heart Part 4" that went "dropped one classic, came right back" all suggest that a follow-up album may be dropping on Easter, the day of Jesus' resurrection.
The second theory concerns the 1999 science-fiction movie "The Matrix." Another line from "The Heart Part 4" says, "My next album, the whole industry on a ice pack... with TOC, you see the flames." Fans speculate that TOC could stand for "The Other Color."
In the movie, Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) offered Neo (Keanu Reeves) a choice between a red pill and a blue pill. Fans think that "DAMN" could be the red pill, while the rumored follow-up album could be representing the blue pill.
To add fuel to this speculation, music producer Sounwave posted a curious tweet on April 13, teasing, "But what if I told you... that's not the official version," followed by an image of Fishburne.
However, Sounwave recently clarified that the "unofficial version" he was referring to was actually a leaked version that didn't have the important interludes and vocal pieces that were included in the official one.
Speculations about a second album release this week will undoubtedly continue well into Easter when an album does or does not come.
