'Kevin Can Wait' Ex-Star Erinn Hayes Returning to Network TV

Erinn Hayes will be back on network television after "Kevin Can Wait." The actress, who was fired from the CBS comedy in May, teased she will soon return to the platform for a new show.

Hayes told a fan on Twitter that she has a guest spot in a new NBC series. She did not mention the show but she alluded that the episode will air "sometime in the new year."

The guest spot will mark Hayes' return on NBC. She previously starred in the network's comedy series, "Guys with Kids," which aired from 2012 to 2013. She also graced in episodes of NBC's critically-praised shows, "Parks and Recreations" and "Parenthood."

Aside from her upcoming NBC appearance, Hayes will also star in an Amazon series, "The Dangerous Book for Boys." The actress will play the widowed mom of three boys whose only remaining connection to their deceased father is via guidebook.

The coming-of-age story is based on a novel by Conn and Hal Iggulden. "Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston and "Superbad" director Greg Mottola adapted the show for the streaming platform for six half-hour episodes.

In May, producers of "Kevin Can Wait" let go of Hayes, who played Kevin James' wife Donna, following a creative decision. Leah Remini joined the show in her place for season 2.

Remini's inclusion, however, became a fodder for viewers to attack the series. Scientologists allegedly led the bashing of the show on Twitter because of their issues with Remini, an ex-Scientologist.

Fans became more upset when Donna's death wasn't properly mourned on "Kevin Can Wait." James explained that Hayes' firing was not because of her work ethics or lack of chemistry with the star. From a retiree husband, James' character became a single dad with three kids, which opened more possibilities for a better plot progression.

"I get that people are like 'Whoa, why would you do this?'" James said. "But it really felt like a thing like this was needed for this show to drive forward."

"Kevin Can Wait" airs Mondays at 8:00 p.m. EST on CBS.
