Kevin Durant Injury Update: Golden State Warriors Forward May Sit Out Rest of Regular Season
The Golden State Warriors may have to prepare for the worst as Kevin Durant is unable to play for an indefinite amount of time due to a knee injury that he sustained during Tuesday night's game in Washington, D.C.
It can be recalled that center player Zaza Pachulia lost his balance and subsequently fell. He landed on Durant's left knee, resulting in the latter's injury. As a result, Durant will not be able to play for the time-being as he has bruised his tibial bone in his leg and suffered a sprain on the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the 28-year-old basketball player is expected to be out for the rest of the regular season. At the very least, Durant will not be able to return to the court for the entire month of March. However, there may be hope yet as their medical staff believes that there is a chance of recovery before the regular season closes.
ESPN's Marc Stein shared that Durant was apparently in "good spirits" after his diagnosis. This is because it was initially thought that he had suffered a fracture instead of a bruised tibia.
And while an early return certainly is the best outcome, sources have told Adrian Wojnarowski's The Vertical that Durant could be out for the rest of the season. They even went as far as to suggest that he may not be able to play even after the season concludes, which means he might not make it to the Western Conference playoffs. The team is allegedly bracing for the worst.
However, ESPN's Jeff Goodman reports that Durant is expected to return for the post-season. Sources have apparently told ESPN that the situation is not as dire as it seems.
With any luck, his injury will heal rapidly so that he will be back to play for the Golden State Warriors.
