The young boy has attracted media attention, and has even posed for photos while holding up his birth certificate as he was interviewed by AL.com.

The boy known as "the kid who will be 12 on 12/12/12 at 12:12" is not the only child turning 12 on that day, however, and it is estimated that there about about 11,000 children who will celebrate their 12th birthday on Dec. 12. Although he is the only reported one who has an exact time of birth 12:12.

It is also believed that many consider 12 to be a lucky number, and the day is reportedly attracting a lot of weddings.

As there are only 12 months of the year, it has been highlighted that such an event will not be able to happen again until 3001, where the age will match the date, month, year and time in hours and minutes – making Kiam Moriya's birthday literally an event that will not happen again for nearly 1,000 years.

According to Wikipedia, "Etymology suggests that "twelve" (similar to "eleven") arises from the Germanic compound twalif "two-leftover," so a literal translation would yield "two remaining [after having ten taken]." This compound meaning may have been transparent to speakers of Old English, but the modern form "twelve" is quite opaque. Only the remaining tw- hints that twelve and two are related."

The number twelve is often used as a sales unit in trade, and is often referred to as a dozen. Twelve dozen are known as a gross. (Note that there are thirteen items in a baker's dozen.)
