'Killing Floor 2' Releases Free Content Update, New Maps, Weapons

Tripwire Interactive has recently rolled out an update for the horror first-person shooter game "Killing Floor 2." The update, available free of charge, is called "The Descent" and is now released for the PlayStation 4 (PS4), the PlayStation 4 Pro (PS4 Pro) and PC via Steam.

The new content pack called The Descent includes significant updates for "Killing Floor 2," adding content to the base game since its official release in the fall of last year. According to a short press release article by Gamasutra, the new content patch update will add two brand-new maps as well as introduce new weapons and map gameplay to the game.

The first map added via the content pack is also called The Descent, like the expansion pack that it came in. The map adds a new gameplay mode called the Holdout mode, as detailed in the feature write-up by Destructoid. In the new Holdout mode for the The Descent map, the players have to hold their ground against waves of Zeds, as usual in the game, but with a new twist. The map has ten different rooms, and for each wave, the team is placed in one of them at random. According to the developer's description, the battle against the hordes of Zeds "takes place in one of ten different rooms, and the rooms are in a random order after the first, so each time you play you get different experience."

The other map, called Nuked, has been adapted straight from the "Killing Floor 2" modding community. This move could encourage the map-making community for "Killing Floor 2" to try their hand at making better maps, seeing as how the developer is actively watching their creations.

Two new weapons are also included, like the dual Flaregun Revolvers and the Stoner 63a LMG, according to Rock Paper Shotgun.
