Kim Kardashian Hair Loss? New Mom Spotted With Bald Patches and Extensions, Say Critics
Kim Kardashian's hair loss is the subject of debate after the reality TV star was spotted possibly sporting bald patches while out in Los Angeles last week. Kardashian had her child North West five months ago and surprised many by shedding the baby weight relatively quickly, but some claim that the stress of parenting could have had an effect on her normally thick locks.
Kim Kardashian's hair loss was pointed out by eyewitnesses who spotted her out wearing little makeup and a black blouse and yoga pants in L.A. The "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star could have been coming from a particularly stressful workout, as her hair was tied up in an uncharacteristic bun and she hid her face from cameras with large black sunglasses.
After the pictures were released, critics pointed out that Kardashian's hair seemed much thinner than usual, and others highlighted her plainly visible extensions underneath her own hair.
"It is well known that during the later stage of pregnancy you lose less hair during to hormones, making it thicker and lusher, but when you have the baby most women find they seem to be losing a lot more hair than normal," Tatiana Karelina, a hair expert, told Daily Mail.
Karelina said that the birth and rapid weight loss most likely caused the problem, but that a weave or extensions will only exacerbate the new mom's hair loss.
"Weaves put extreme pressure on the hair and scalp, often too heavy and tight, the pulling and weight often cause severe migraines and traction alopecia, and actually aid hair loss rather than help to recover healthy hair regrowth," she explained.
However, the issues with Kardashian's hair were all but forgotten by her next appearance earlier this week. The 33-year-old reality TV star went shopping with friend and entrepreneur Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen in Beverly Hills and had stunning thick hair and wore a camel trench coat.
Kardashian seemed confident, as she generously tipped the valet $100 for parking her Rolls Royce. A representative for the star said she does not wear hair extensions.
