'Kingdom Hearts 3' Release Date, News: Keyblades to Have 2 Transformations

"Kingdom Hearts 3" director Tetsuya Nomura has provided details about the highly anticipated game by explaining the screenshot released at the Monaco Anime Game International Conferences (MAGIC) 2017.

He explained in an interview with Famitsu (translated by Gematsu) that the Heartless vs. Sora clash in Thebes in the image actually depicts a battle scene against the Rock Troll, which is to be treated as a "mid-boss."

He did not detail the main boss in the area, which, by the way, was inspired by the world of Hercules. Looking at that villain, it looks like the big boss in this "Kingdom Hearts 3" map will be a tough one.

Fans will remember that during MAGIC 2017, Nomura revealed to Gameblog.fr (translation by Gematsu) that the Rock Troll in the image is a new form of Heartless.

He also detailed during the same interview that the Keyblade in "Kingdom Hearts 3" can transform into "a lot of things."

Nomura elaborated on that in this new Famitsu interview, revealing that they are currently working on two transformation patterns for the Keyblade in "Kingdom Hearts 3."

"It should be noted that similar to the Keyblade that transforms into a tank and shield that we showed this time, there is not always a division of attack and defense," Nomura explained.

"The Keyblade that appeared in the previous trailer transforms into a pair of crossbows for each hand and a bazooka. How a Keyblade transforms depends on the Keyblade," he went on to say.

From the looks of it, "Kingdom Hearts 3" will offer players the ability to modify their Keyblade in a form that will serve them best in tackling a certain enemy or a situation.

Square Enix is still far along from the completion of "Kingdom Hearts 3" and is therefore not ready yet to attach a release date to the highly anticipated title.

The studio has said several times in the past that it will be a while before they can even show footage from the game.
