'Kingdom Hearts 3': Sora vs. Heartless in New Screenshot

Square Enix will make fans wait for a while for "Kingdom Hearts 3" so the developer helps them get by the waiting game with a new screenshot from the highly anticipated action role-playing installment.

Game director Tetsuya Nomura showed the image at the Monaco Anime Game International Conferences (MAGIC) 2017. It provides another look at the world of Hercules, one of the realms set to be featured in the game.

Nomura also spoke to Gameblog.fr (translation by Gematsu) during the event, where he revealed details about the screenshot.

"This is the first time we show this screenshot of Kingdom Hearts 3. It's happening in Thebes and they are fighting a new model of the Heartless," he explained.

"The Keyblade turns into a lot of things. Here it is a shield, but it can also be transformed into a chariot. This is called Power Form," he went on to say.

This image is the first teaser released for "Kingdom Hearts 3" in months. The last time Square Enix teased the game was back in October, when it shared on Twitter couple of screenshots from the game.

There, they revealed a new Drive Form called the Guard Form, which transforms Sora's Keyblade into the Herc's Shield. Another image showed a new form that the developer chose to keep as secret at the moment.

"This power form was edited as it is the Keyblade from a world that hasn't been released yet, so it has changed into a hammer shape," they explained.

"Kingdom Hearts 3" is not expected to arrive anytime soon. Last month, Nomura revealed to Famitsu (translation by KH13) that there is still a long way to go before the game sees the light of day.

"The production process is different than what we've had up until now, so I can't just give you a general idea, but I can say that there are worlds that still remain untouched," the director revealed.

"We've advanced on the production of worlds that have yet to be announced, so we can't show them for now. As far as development status goes, there's still a ways to go," he went on to say.
