'Kingsman 2' Cast News: Will Colin Firth Return?
After the success of the 20th Century Fox film "Kingsman: The Secret Service," it was revealed that a sequel is currently in progress.
"Kingsman: The Secret Service" is based on a graphic novel by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. It was adapted by Matthew Vaughn, who is expected to direct the upcoming sequel.
It was speculated that the upcoming movie will have Taron Egerton reprise his role as Eggsy. While the original plan was to begin filming for "Kingman 2" this April 2016, it was reported that the production was delayed. This was due to Egerton's commitment to another upcoming film by Lionsgate. He will be playing a role in the upcoming film "Robin Hood: Origins." With that, the production for "Kingsman 2" will take place late 2016.
However, fans have been wondering if another major character of the film will return. The previous film showed Colin Firth's character Agent Galahad shot dead. Fans are hoping that he will return to the movie as his performance was well received.
With that, Millar recently spoke with IGN about the possibility of his return for "Kingsman 2." Millar said, "You also want to have the integrity of the story, so if you are bringing him back, it has to make sense. That's where it is at the moment. Beats of the story have been done. [Screenplay co-writers] Matthew [Vaughn] and Jane [Goldman] are working on it at the moment. Some things have to be worked out, some decisions have still to be made and everything, so it's all fairly amorphous, but all going well."
There are speculations that Firth could return as a twin of the character, which will certainly create an interesting story for the sequel. His return could also take the form of flashbacks. Nevertheless, fans will have to wait until its release to find out if he will return to the series.
"Kingsman 2" is expected to premiere in theaters by June 16, 2017.
