"This is not about vacation and I don't think any of us is treating it that way. This is a regular-season game. It's a game that we got to win," coach Mike Woodson said.

He added, "It's not about vacation time. Vacation's in the summer."

The Knicks have re-found some form after having an inconsistent period recently, and are coming into the game off a 100-87 win over the New Orleans Hornets on Sunday.

After Thursday's game they won't play again until they meet the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, giving them time to return back to New York from London.

Longtime Knicks fan and director Spike Lee has taken the journey across the Atlantic to watch his team in this unique match up.

"The orange and blue, baby," said Lee. "My wife gave me permission to come to the game."

The NBA first came to Europe in 2011 with a game between the New Jersey Nets against the Toronto Raptors. The Nets won that two-game series against the Raptors at the iconic O2 arena, marking the first regular-season games to be played in Europe, and the NBA franchise looks to expand its reach.

In 2012 there was no NBA game held at the O2 arena, but there was basketball from the summer Olympics instead, with the venue hosting some of the NBA's top stars for the gold medal game featuring Team USA. The United States won that game and claimed the gold medal.
