Kylie Minogue News: Singer-Actress to Star in Comedy Film 'Flammable Children'
Kylie Minogue joins the cast of "Flammable Children," an upcoming comedy to be helmed by Australian director Stephan Elliott of "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" fame.
Apart from Minogue, the comedy will also feature the comic antics of Guy Pearce and Radha Mitchelle. The film will use the sleepy beachside suburb in Australia circa 1975 as its backdrop, the period when the country was shaken up by political crisis and sexual revolution. While the movie will follow only a week of events, a single extraordinary thing that happens and changes the lives of a teenage boy and girl forever will surely make it entertaining and riveting enough.
"Flammable Children" serves as the reunion project of Minogue and Pearce, who both starred in the hit Australian soap opera "Neighbours" almost three decades ago. After their stint on the soap opera, the two experienced the flourishing of their respective careers. Pearce found himself tackling critically acclaimed roles in the movies, such as "L.A. Confidential," "Memento," and "The Hurt Locker." While it is true that Minogue maintained her acting career as she starred in various films, including "Moulin Rouge," "Holy Motors," and "San Andreas," there is no denying that it is in the international music scene where she etched her name.
To date, there is no disputing that Minogue is the most successful Australian pop artist, boasting almost 80 million record sales. Some of her memorable hits include "Especially for You," "Locomotion," "I Should be So Lucky," "Can't Get You out of My Head," and "Wow."
The upcoming comedy film also reunites Elliott with many members of his "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" team, including score composer Guy Gross, film editor Sue Blainey, Oscar-winning production designer Colin Gibson, and Oscar-winning costume designer Lizzy Gardiner, and Al Clark.
Currently, Elliott is still in the process of completing the cast for the upcoming comedy film. The cameras will start grinding for "Flammable Children" in Australia this autumn.
