LA Clippers Roster News: Blake Griffin Back in Practice, Begins Serving Suspension
Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers may finally see action before the end of the regular season after all. The high-flying forward attended the team's practice on Sunday and was given the clearance to return shortly after. However, even though he already obtained medical clearance, he still won't be seeing action in an actual game since he is set to begin serving his four-game suspension for the altercation with one of the team's staff members.
Per CBS Sports, Griffin is going to be absent for the Clippers' games against the Denver Nuggets, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. He will be available, provided head coach Doc Rivers puts him in, to play by April 3 in a game against the Washington Wizards.
Griffin's return is positive news for the Clippers, even if they've been playing really well without him. He still has several games to get his groove back before real action takes place in the postseason that will start on April 16.
For the five-time NBA All-Star, making a return to the court is nothing but good news for him. After suffering a quad injury, he saw himself involved in controversy when he broke his hand following a fight against the team's equipment manager. After that, there was a lot of talk of him being shopped by the Clippers as a consequence of his actions. To be fair though, he has been relatively quiet all throughout the period of his recovery and the peak of the issue. All he has to do as of this moment is to let his game do the talking.
The team decided to suspend him for four games as some sort of punishment, though they wouldn't have if they were given a choice. The pressure to discipline him for his actions is part of the outcry from the league.
