Lamborghini News: The Terzo Millenio is the Future of Electric Vehicles and Technology

The automobile market has shifted its attention from aesthetics to releasing vehicles that represent the future. The most recent contribution came in the form of the Lamborghini Terzo Millenio concept car, which was unveiled at the EmTech conference held in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Nov. 6.

"Collaborating with MIT for our R&D department is an exceptional opportunity to do what Lamborghini has always been very good at—rewriting the rules on super sports cars," said Stefano Domenicali, chairman, and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, as reported by Bloomberg.

The car is a product of an intense collaboration between the luxury automaker and Massachusetts Institute of Technology for the first 12 months of a three-year partnership, calling the Terzo Millenio the future of cars, as well as technology. Lamborghini is seeking to develop supercapacitors, which will power the entirety of the Terzo Millenio. It represents the automobile giant's efforts of infiltrating the electric vehicle market through their own signature performance design.

Another factor that Lamborghini is also looking into is the possibility of integrating carbon composite batteries, which will significantly reduce the weight of the batteries while simultaneously increasing the discharge capacities. Coupled with the supercapacitor, it seems that the Lamborghini Terzo Millenio is looking to combine two power technologies that are yet to be seen on any other car.

The Lamborghini Terzo Millenio also promises a car that can automatically and continuously monitor its own condition, from its structure down to the regular wear-and-tear. Mechanisms will be integrated into the carbon fiber body, which will allow the Terzo Millenio to repair significant damage and prolong its own longevity.

Aesthetically, the concept car carries Lamborghini's signature design. The Terzo Millenio rests low on its wheels, with aerodynamics from its signature predecessors carrying over to the concept. Information on its release is expected in the coming months.
