Naughty Dog Confirms Existence of "Last of Us 2"
Naughty Dog has confirmed that there will be a sequel to their highly beloved title, "Last of Us."
The gaming company is also planning to insert new various themes and games, including letting lead character Ellie come out as gay in "Last of Us 2". Naughty Dog might also include a more diverse cast in the game. However, any news or new information of the sequel won't surface until 2018.

Naughty Dog's "Last of Us" horror survival game was well received when it came out in 2013. Now, fans want more and the gaming company did not disappoint as it was confirmed that "Last of Us 2" is currently being developed.

Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann said that it may take a while longer for fans to play "Last of Us 2" because they need the time to develop it, Movie News Guide noted. Druckmann has explained that the sequel may not be released until 2021 and any news or new information about the game may not surface until 2018.

In an interview with The Frame, Druckman revealed that it took them more than three years to complete "The Last of Us". Druckmann reiterated that "Last of Us" was written to be very character-centric. The story they did for the game was not written in a chronological order as they have to write it according to how the gameplay progresses. For stuff that may need work, they may have to go back and redo scenes.
He adds that they are planning to add people of color in "Last of Us 2" to add more diversity in the game. Druckmann credits the game's lead concept character artist, Ashley Swidowski, who pushed for more progression by including other people of color in the game.
'Last of Us 2' Spoilers, Ellie Comes Out as Gay
It was revealed that in the side story of the game called "The Last of Us Left Behind", lead character Ellie came out as gay, International Business Times reports. Ellie's voice actress, Ashley Johnson admitted to having her role in the game as being "empowering" because of the positive effect it had on the LGBT people in the gaming community.
Aside from Ellie's sexuality, it is expected for Naughty Dog to follow through with a more diverse cast to show up in "Last of Us 2" when it hopefully gets revealed in 2018 and released in 2021.
