Latest on Samsung Galaxy S8: Partnership with Qualcomm, Specs and Features, Release Date
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of next year, and early reports have shown that it will be the most powerful smart phone ever that runs on Android.
In general, some of its specs and features include a powerful, more detailed camera, robust hardware, and a brighter and bigger screen.
Samsung Qualcomm Partnership
Samsung has recently announced its partnership with Qualcomm to launch a next-gen processor called the Snapdragon 835 processor. The chips will not only have increased performance; they will also be smaller in size.
Keith Kressin, Qualcomm senior VP of product management said, "We are excited to continue working together with Samsung in developing products that lead the mobile industry. Using the new 10 nm process node is expected to allow our premium tier Snapdragon 835 processor to deliver greater power efficiency and increase performance while also allowing us to add a number of new capabilities that can improve the user experience of tomorrow's mobile devices."
Snapdragon 835 processors are set to begin showing up in smart phones in 2017. Qualcomm will reveal the new processor's full capabilities at CES 2017 in January.
The 10 nanometer chip is one of the smallest in the world, and is even considerably thinner than human hair. Thinner processors mean thinner devices and more room for larger batteries and other features.
Specs and Features
As such, it is reasonable to believe that the Samsung Galaxy S8, which launches next year, will feature the Snapdragon 835 processor, making it a very powerful smartphone.
Aside from internal power, another major change expected from the Samsung Galaxy S8 is an entirely new design. The standard S8 is rumored to have a 5.7-inch diagonal. In contrast, the Samsung Galaxy S7 has a 5.1-inch diagonal.
An even bigger smartphone, the biggest from Samsung to date, is rumored to have a 6.2-inch screen diagonal; the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. Samsung Galaxy S8 will have a new smart assistant called Viv.
Release Date
Typically, Samsung launches their new flagship smartphones during the annual Mobile World Congress at Barcelona, Spain. The Samsung Galaxy S7 was launched at this event last March.
On the other hand, some reports are saying that Samsung will take its time to prevent a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 disaster repeat.
The South Korean company was criticized for rushing the Galaxy Note 7; skipping some testing procedures which caused a major recall after some devices caught fire while being used.
