'Law & Order: SVU' Season 15 Spoilers: Benson's Future in Question, Along With Show

"Law & Order: SVU" left viewers stunned last week, as Benson dealt with her nemesis and after a physical and psychological showdown, he shot himself in front of her, leaving her face splattered with his blood. In two weeks, Benson must fight for her job, as she publicly admitted that she had beaten William Lewis while he was handcuffed.

The series will pick up 10 minutes before Lewis shoots himself in front of Benson, with the entire squad searching for Benson and hearing Lewis' taunts. According to executive producer Warren Leight, Benson will most definitely have some trauma from her latest experience with Lewis. But make no mistake: Lewis is most definitely dead. Leight promised that we will see his body in the morgue, bringing the ultimate conclusion to the storyline.

"His effect on her definitely lingers," Leight told TVLine. "We don't use the phrase 'happy ending' on 'SVU,' but I have hopes for her. We have a tentative title for the finale, which is 'Spring Awakening.' Olivia has gone through an incredible crucible this year, and Mariska has done an amazing job with it, so both the actress and the character deserve a moment's grace. I hope she gets it."

In other "SVU" news, Donal Logue returns as Lieutenant Declan Murphy. He initially started on the series as an undercover officer who helped Rollins with her gambling addiction and has now moved up the chain and will fully take command of the Special Victims Unit now that Benson has been "compromised."

As Benson struggles with the aftermath of the shooting, Internal Affairs begins an investigation into Lewis' death and actually finds evidence pointing to murder rather than suicide. This could mean the end of Benson's career and possibly "SVU" as we know it. During the last episode, a Twitter trend began circulating with the phrase #RenewSVU, which could mean that the series is in danger of being canceled.

The next new episode of "SVU" airs Wednesday, April 30.
