'Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath' Season 2 to Return This Summer
Leah Remini and her controversial docuseries, "Scientology and the Aftermath," will return for a second season in A&E later this year.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actress revealed her thoughts about the renewal, stating that she actually did not want to do another installment. What changed her mind, she said, were the responses she and her exposé got from the organization and its parishioners, particularly her fellow celebrities. Remini, who left the Scientology church in 2013, has decided to share her experiences via the docu that first aired in 2016. Her mission is to reveal the truth about her former church, particularly about the abuse and misconduct happening behind closed doors.
"I want to be clear about that: I'm not trying to turn people. We don't need to get people to come out; we're hearing from people who haven't spoken before. They've been brainwashed into believing they could do nothing. They were told there'd be heavy repercussions if they went to the police or the FBI," Remini said, according to EW.

Meanwhile, Remini has expressed her anger at the church's statement that all her claims are lies and have no basis. Scientology reps have crucified her and the series, but so far, there has been no formal action taken by the church.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first season had an average of 3 million viewers and the average rating was strong. Pre-production has already started for the next installment, which will consist of 10 episodes. Remini also revealed that they have a lot of new materials to work on. According to her, people have been steadily approaching them since the show's debut.
"The way the organization has responded without taking responsibility for what they do to people, I need to continue. It would be another [scenario] if they stopped trying to discredit everyone's stories and said, 'If you don't like it, don't be part of Scientology,'" Remini explained to THR.
