Droid Turbo 2 Specs News: Leaked Ads Reveal New Shatterproof Display

Good news to everyone who has been waiting for the top-of-the-line Droid Turbo 2 smartphone as Motorola and Verizon have announced the phone's unveiling date. According to The Verge, the Droid Turbo 2 will be revealed during the press event that will be held on Oct. 27 in New York City. But the said smartphone isn't the only one that will be introduced as the mid-range Droid Maxx 2 smartphone will also be revealed on the same day.

The press invites that were sent out did not contain much information regarding the Droid handsets that will be unveiled. But thanks to recent leaks and rumors, fans get a glimpse ahead of time what the companies will be bringing to the table with their new devices.

The latest one to hit headlines are the leaked print ads that were published by Droid Life. As detailed in the ad, the Droid Turbo 2 will be introduced and marketed as having a shatterproof screen. It's basically Verizon's version of a P-OLED display panel that is known to resist cracks. There aren't much details regarding it so at least there's something to look forward to hearing about at the event. Android Police did mention though that the "P" in P-OLED means "plastic," similar to the panel used in LG's G Flex series.

Aside from the handset being crack-proof, the leaked ad also show that the Droid Turbo 2 can be personalized through the Moto Maker. Reports say that it will be the first time that the Moto Maker will also cover the Verizon-exclusive Droid line.

There will be a wide array of combinations of custom options. An example of such include leather and ballistic nylon, which was a fan favorite texture and available only to last year's Turbo. Motorola is also said to offer to their customers a freebie which is a one-time "refresh" of their Droid Turbo 2 if they purchase the 64GB model.
