Lebron James and Lauren Perdue Not Dating Romantically: 'He Was Kind of Joking' (PHOTO)

LeBron James allegedly asked Olympic swimmer Lauren Perdue on a date, but was turned down due to curfew.

LeBron James seems to consider himself a multitasker. Although he is now in London as a part of the U.S. basketball team who is striving to bring home gold, he apparently had no problem being distracted in his off time when asking another Olympic athlete on a date. The rumor was confirmed by Perdue on her Twitter account.

"Lebron James just invited me to dinner... Um wuuuutttt?!?" Perdue tweeted. She later followed that tweet with a picture and a new caption that read "Oh heyy Lebon."

James, however, recently became engaged to his high school sweetheart. Before too much controversy was stirred, Perdue deleted the tweets and said in a later interview that James had been kidding about the pair going out.

"He was kind of joking but he was basically like, 'Would you like to come eat with me at the dining hall?' And I said, 'Um, I'm sorry, I have a curfew. So I turned that one down, yeah," Perdue told The Charlotte Observer.

Perdue also explained to the paper that James offer did not entail any romantic interests.

"LeBron was 'gracious' and and certainly didn't imply that he was asking her to anything other than a meal at the Olympic Village dining hall," the Observer reported.

Perdue, a 21-year-old swimmer at the University of Virginia, swam Wednesday night as part of the 200 freestyle relay, an event for which the Americans took home the gold.

"What an unbelievable night. I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to contribute to a gold medal relay today," Perdue said after the event. "The relay tonight was phenomenal. It was so exciting being able to cheer them on tonight and sharing the ultimate prize, an Olympic gold medal, with all six girls! Each one of us has worked incredibly hard for this moment and I could not be more proud of my USA teammates."
