'Left Alive' Gameplay News: Square Enix Reveals New Trailer, More Details on Upcoming Survival Shooter
As expected, Square Enix revealed a good amount of gameplay details on their upcoming survival shooter game "Left Alive" during the recently held Tokyo Game Show.
Before the comprehensive presentation, Square Enix announced the game through a short video teaser. They also confirmed that they have teamed up with a pool of veteran game developers known for working on popular games like "METAL GEAR" and "Xenoblade" to craft "Left Alive."
Aside from announcing more details on the upcoming game, Square Enix also released another trailer with more information than the first one.
The video teaser revealed that the game was set in 2127 in a fictional Russian city called Novo Slava. The Tokyo Game Show trailer showed the city in ruins during a snowy day.
It also appeared that the main events of the game's story happened during the holiday season as lights and Christmas trees were seen all over the streets that were filled with debris.
The trailer also featured a quick montage of gameplay footages and showed that the game will be played in a third person perspective.
Meanwhile, as Gematsu reported from the Tokyo Game Show presentation, Square Enix confirmed that "Left Alive" would feature three protagonists. However, they must move independently to survive.
The ruins seen in the trailers were caused by a "one day incident" which will force the protagonists to act fast before the war kills them.
Developers have also confirmed that the game was mainly set in the same world featured in the "Front Mission" games, which explained why players will also see the robot weapons called Wanzers roaming around the streets. These can also be stolen and controlled to aid in the player's survival.
It was likewise revealed that the players will have the liberty to choose the path they will take in completing missions. They can take the known direction but can also hide from enemies if they find secret trails. The time it will take to finish quests depends on the players and the decisions they make in the game.
Meanwhile, the developers also confirmed that they already have ideas for post-launch downloadable contents. However, nothing is definitive yet since they still want to know first how the game will perform in the market.
"Left Alive" will be released in 2018 on PlayStation 4 and PC.
