'Left Alive' Gameplay News: Veteran Developers Team Up to Create New Shooter Game
Square Enix announced that a group of veteran developers is teaming up to create their newest survival action shooter game called "Left Alive."
While gameplay information is scarce, the lineup of veteran developers teaming up for the new title is enough to build high expectations.
"Left Alive's" character design lead is Yoji Shinkawa, who is famous for his work in the "METAL GEAR" franchise. The game's director is Toshifumi Nabeshima, who is known for his part in the development of the "Armored Core" series.
Meanwhile, the game's official website says Takayuki Yanase is also part of the "Left Alive" team as the lead mech designer. He previously worked on games like "Ghost in the Shell: Arise," "Mobile Suit Gundam 00," and "Xenoblade Chronicles X".
The game was primarily announced through a brief trailer that quietly opened to a green-wallpapered corridor of a building that looked like an old-fashioned hotel. The initial stillness of the location was then disrupted by three gunshots.
A loud explosion then followed that completely tore walls and later on exposed an even more devastated city, which helped gamers understand why the title "Left Alive" made sense.
The heavily devastated city was filled with buildings that have either collapsed or were burning, apparently from a series of powerful bombings. A war aircraft then appeared, and as it flew over the ruined city, it looked like it was also carrying a gigantic robot or an enormous piece of equipment.
Those scenes were all that the "Left Alive" trailer showed before it proceeded to the credits that showed the names of the veteran developers attached to making the game.
So far, the only platforms confirmed to support the game are PlayStation 4 and PC. However, "Left Alive's" release date is set sometime in 2018 which gives ample time for Square Enix to consider or work on bringing the game to more consoles like the Xbox One.
Meanwhile, more details are expected to be revealed this week at the Tokyo Game Show.
