'Lego Dimensions' Starter Pack Portal levels explained, Scooby-Doo world revealed

Gamers are listing down video game titles to watch out for and hopefully they didn't miss jotting down "Lego Dimensions" developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game is still set to be released but details about it have already being revealed.

IGN released a video of "LEGO Dimensions" producer Doug Heder talking about how the Portal level in the Starter Pack will work. As shown in the video, the Portal level included will feature nine test chambers and a boss fight. Players will encounter once again GlaDOS as well as Wheatley A.I. systems which will be voiced by comedian Stephen Merchant in Portal 2.

The three starter characters include Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle, all of which will not come with portal guns unless separate Portal 2 level pack is purchased. But even so, they can still be guided throughout the game. There will also be additional levels available in the Portal 2 level pack.

The game is even more exciting because of the toy pad, which figurines are placed on during gameplay. They will be used largely in the solving puzzles and accomplishing certain tasks. Gamers can move the physical LEGO figurines around the pad to move them in-game, notes Softpedia.

"Lego Dimensions" also features levels in "Scooby Doo" world. According to PlayStation Lifestyle, everything in this world is cel-shaded to give it an old cartoon look. It also features a voice acting that is very similar to the classic cartoons and even entertain veteran gamers during cut-scenes wherein all the characters act as they are in the cartoon show. Daphne is courageous, Velma is smart, Scooby and Shaggy are goofs and Fred is being a tool. There will still be silly side-comments and actions outside the cut-scenes though. One action that is very similar to the cartoon show is Scooby sneaking on certain things, hunkering low or tiptoeing along the floor.

The game is said to be a very promising one, aiming to give fans a fun and different kind of LEGO gaming experience. "LEGO Dimensions" will hit store shelves on Sept. 27 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U.
