Lenovo Updates: Mobile Company Partners with Razer to Build 'Revolutionary' Gaming PC

In a partnership officially made public on Friday, Lenovo steps into the gaming niche, while Razer gets access to the Chinese multinational company's mainstream computing expertise.

During the Dreamhack 2015 computer festival held in Jönköping, Sweden, Lenovo announced that, in partnership with Razer, it will be releasing a new line of gaming hardware in the near future. The line will include desktops, laptops, and other peripherals.

First among these products is their co-branded and co-marketed green-and-black gaming desktop, the Lenovo Razer Edition. According to PC World, the prototype has a chasis like that in Lenovo's Y900 gaming desktop. The publication also suggests the gaming PC has dual Nvidia cards, based on the render zoomed in.

Razer mouse, keyboard, and other peripherals may also come with the device, the publication states further. This is possible as Razer is involved in choosing both internal and peripheral components, Victor Rios, vice president and general manager, Workstation BU, Gaming and Industry Solutions, Lenovo, told the publication in a previous discussion.

Lenovo and Razer have also stated in a press release that all products under the Lenovo Razer Edition will reflect the Lenovo Y series look and incorporate Razer elements like Chroma color LED technology and software, which is supposedly demonstrated by the multicolor drop shadow in the renders.

All these details and more will be confirmed and more information revealed when Lenovo and Razer officially launch the product during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next year.

Rios said the company is "thrilled" about the partnership and the opportunity to "bring out the best from both companies to deliver a better, more immersive gaming experience for customers."

"While we bring to the table our engineering expertise, design muscle and scale, Razer adds in the finesse and experience of serving the gaming community for the last decade," Rios said. "We believe our partnership is a strong first step that will lead to the delivery of winning PC gaming solutions and a brand new experience to our customers."

Min-Liang Tan, Razer's co-founder and chief executive officer, feels its partnership with Lenovo will help advance the gaming lifestyle and empower the global PC gaming community. Razer will still be making its Blade line independent of the partnership, PC World reveals.
