LG, Android News: LG G3, G4 Get Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update
Google's latest mobile operating system, the Android M or Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which was first released by LG to its flagship LG G4 users in Poland in mid-October, is now quietly rolling out for LG G4 users across Europe and other parts of the world.
LG G4 users from across the globe confirmed via the LG G4 Reddit forum that they have started getting the OS update notification. In early November, G4 users in South Korea reported that they were also able to install the Android 6.0 operating system.
According to GSM Arena, after its initial test run in Poland, a country that frequently serves as a test market for this kind of software development, v6.0 has started seeding in a number of European countries, including Germany, Romania, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Switzerland, Croatia, and the U.K. It will also soon be available for G2, G3, G4, and G Flex 2 users in the U.S. whose phones are powered by Verizon, AT&T, Mobile, and Sprint, says an International Business Times report.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow has some nifty new features, including battery optimization, Knock Code, Direct Share, app permissions, and Silent Mode. The new battery optimization feature will put apps not in use on sleep mode while Knock Code offers a new way of locking Android phones: at least 6 taps and 3 different quarters form a knock code that will lock and unlock the screen.
Meanwhile, as LG G4 users around the world wait for their turn to receive the Android M update, the International Business Times listed the steps to installing the CyanogenMod CM13 series custom ROM developed by Tim Klein. The unofficial custom ROM will allow LG G3 users to explore the latest Android update without having to wait for the official firmware to be released in their area.
