LG G Watch R Release Date, Specs: Device Gets October 2014 Launch
With all the smartwatches that are set for release before the holiday season officially begins, people have taken to comparing prices, specs, and design long before the debut of the devices. Now, here's another smartwatch that is certainly up there with the best of them when it comes to features— and it is rumored to give other smartwatches a run for their money.
The LG G Watch R has just been announced for release on Oct. 14, 2014, and the device's specs were revealed at the IFA 2014.
This watch is said to be competing directly with the Moto 360, and just like the Motorola-produced watch, the G Watch R will also feature a round face. The 1.3-inch circular P-OLED display will have a resolution of 320 x 320, 512 MB RAM and 4GB of storage. It is equipped with Bluetooth, a built in microphone, and is waterproof.

For the health conscious, the watch will have bio sensors which include a barometer to keep track of one's health while wearing the watch.
With regards to appearance, the G Watch R will be slightly different from the Moto 360. The LG watch is said to be a bit smaller than the 360, which will feature a 1.5 inch face, making the G Watch R a nice choice for those with smaller wrists.
Though it looks like LG is in for a battle of the smartwatches with Motorola, Patrick Hong, LG's head of product planning team, said that the watch was actually the product of more than two years of research, and that it wasn't just a move to one-up the 360.
"Honestly, I can say that we didn't make this product because of our competitor's movement, or the strength or position of the market," said Hong to Tech Times. "We started studying this product more than two years ago. We always think about the customer, it's not coming from, or driven by the technology."
