LG G3 vs Galaxy Note 3: Specs and Features Comparison

The LG G3 recently hit the market and appears to be more of a Galaxy Note 3 competitor than the S5 based on its size.

The device features state of the art specs that rival what many say is the greatest device Samsung has ever created. The Galaxy Note 3 seems to still be at the top of the food chain, even with the launch of new smartphones such the HTC One M8 and Galaxy S5 this year. It was ahead of its time in the fall of 2013, and now could be entering a time when it has finally met its match. So how does this G3 stack up against Samsung's behemoth?

The LG G3 features a shiny smooth metal exterior similar to what is found on the HTC One. The metal finish gives the handset a classy look which makes it a great accessory and its thin bezels allow for the display to stand out. The Galaxy Note 3 comes with the plastic leather-like backing that makes it the perfect companion for a business person. The metal is a nice approach, but is a bit unoriginal in comparison to the One M8. Samsung did something new with the Galaxy Note 3 and it definitely works.

Display

The Galaxy Note 3 features a 5.7-inch display with 1920x1080 resolution at 386 ppi. This was pretty impressive when it launched, but the numbers on the G3 certainly outclass the Note with its 5.5-inch screen featuring a resolution of 2560x1440 at 534 ppi. The numbers are some of the most impressive on the market giving LG the edge over pretty much everyone in this area. The definition will be tough to compete with.

Speed

The LG G3 packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM. The Galaxy Note 3 has the same amount of RAM with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset. The difference here really shouldn't be noticeable and the better device would have to be determined by analyzing the software integration. If LG uses a more stripped down version of Android it might have a smoother running system as Samsung sometimes overstuffs its handsets with bloatware. Either way, the devices appear to be pretty even in this department.

Extras

The LG G3 is definitely high-end in every sense of the word, but it lacks the creative edge the Galaxy Note 3 has over the rest of the market. The phablet introduced the crafty S Pen and its accompanying apps with the original model and it has been a staple that has solidified the Note's place in the market. LG brings some great elements, but fails to innovate in a way that people will notice.

Conclusion

Based on sheer specs, the LG G3 might beat out the Note 3 as it packs a bit more punch than the Samsung device. However, the Note 3 is still an impressive handset with a great camera and overall look. The new and improved S Pen also doesn't hurt it. Both phones are great, but the G3 might have the better specs.
