LG G4 Updates: LG Confirmed Leather Back and QHD Display

At the rate the South Korean manufacturer LG is sharing details of its upcoming flagship phone, the LG G4, some reports are saying that it may leave little for the April 28 reveal. Other reports are claiming, however, that it may also mean that LG may have a lot more surprises in store on the reveal date.

One of the first things that LG confirmed about the new phone's specifications is its display. Through a video posted on YouTube, LG shared that the phone will have a Quad HD Display on a 5.5 inch screen. According to a report on CNET, the video shows a brighter screen and a wider color range than the older model. The official description of LG: "The new QHD (Quad High Definition) LCD display represents a quantum jump in terms of key features. Those features include brightness, color gamut, contrast ratio, touch function, power consumption and thinness."

In another set of announcements, LG shared photos of the new phone with two types of covers. One announcement had said that the "brand new LG G4" has "a vegetable-tanned leather cover," accompanied by a photo of a woman holding the phone. Another announcement was made via a photo on Instagram showing the phone with an interesting looking plastic back cover. The report in Droid Life says that the phone may either come in removable plastic or leather back covers, citing that the battery may be removable as well. It was also reported that the leather covers may come in three different colors.

Other unconfirmed specs of the phone include a 3,000mAh capacity battery, a micro SD card slot, a 16MP camera with OIS and a F1.8 lens. Its body thickness, based on recent design leaks is said to be 8.9mm thick. It will most likely use the faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, instead of the 808.

LG had also commented on recent "leaks" about their new phone, saying that we "have not seen everything yet," indicating that there may be more to come on April 28.
