LG G5 News: Phablet May Have Snapdragon 810 Chip, 5.8-Inch Quad HD Display, 4 GB RAM, Better Camera

According to a report in Tech Times, the Korean smartphone manufacturer is setting its eyes on launching its next flagship before the end of the year, and most reports are pointing to a device that is said to be the successor of the high-end LG G4.

The Tech Times report cited a recent announcement of LG's CEO Cho Juno that the company is indeed launching a flagship device within the last quarter of the year, but he also qualified that the device will not be a "super premium" one. The report speculated that this pronouncement may mean that the next LG device will not follow the all-metal and high-end hardware direction that most smartphone manufacturers are taking.

Recent information leaks about the upcoming device however indicate that the next phablet will have a high-end Dual camera set-up, something that most flagships do not yet have. LG wants to beat the standard camera of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 by providing a kick-ass camera with the LG G5, although it is not yet known what the technical specs of the camera is. The LG G4 came with a 16 megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture, Optical Image Stabilization 2.0 and laser autofocus.

Under the hood, this coming flagship will not sport the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, but will only have the Snapdragon 810 processor. It will however come with 4 GB of RAM which will boost speed and performance.

Given Juno's announcement that this will not be a "premium" device, the LG G5 will likely retain its plastic build, and will not be made of metal.

Its display will be big at 5.8 inches, and it will have a Quad HD (2K) resolution, with 2,560 by 1,440 pixels per inch.

In terms of security features, the other rumors that are circulating include the LG G5 having an iris scanner, in addition to a fingerprint scanner that will provide additional privacy and security features to the device.

LG's signature back button, according to the report, will likely stay since most users find this useful.
