LG G5 Release Date, Specs News: Features 5.6-Inch Display, Metal Unibody, Iris Scanner
Tech junkies are always on the lookout for new devices in the market. Those who are particularly fans of the South Korean brand LG may be watching out for updates from the company as they are set to bring in their flagship device next year.
According to GSM Arena, LG may be launching the G5 very soon. Rumors point to an early release date of the G4 successor saying that it may come out in the month of February rather than the usual Q2 launch. If this is accurate, LG could have a slight edge over Samsung, which is expected to reveal the Galaxy S7 later at that month during the Mobile World Congress.
And although there have been no official information yet from the company, several leaks have already revealed the specs and features of the upcoming handset. As reported by Pocket-Lint, the LG G5 will sport a 5.6-inch QHD resolution IPS LCD display. It's slightly bigger than its predecessor and it has a 1,440 x 2,560 pixels screen resolution.
Under its hood, one will be able to spot the latest 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, which means more power and greater battery consumption efficiency. The LG G5 is rumored to carry a battery unit with a capacity of 3,000 to 3,500 mAh. The device will also be equipped with at least 3 GB of RAM but the internal memory storage is not yet known.
While the LG G4 sported an optional leather back, the G5 is said to be sporting a classier feel with a metal unibody, according to the GSM Arena report. Attached to it are enhanced camera specs with the back expected to have a large ½" sensor with 20 to 21 megapixels. The front will have an 8-megapixel selfie snapper.
The LG G5 is also said to have biometric security, a feature not found on the G4. Tech Radar reported that the flagship device is rumored to have an iris scanner for unlocking. A fingerprint scanner may also be found.
