LG G6 Release Date, Specs News: Flagship Gets U.S. Launch Date
Already available in Japan, the LG G6's next stop is the United States and according to reliable mobile insider Evan Blass, it will arrive on April 7.
He revealed this information on Twitter along with a render of the LG flagship as "proof" of the release date. The lockscreen of the device had the date set on April 7.
While nothing has been confirmed yet, the reliable track record of Blass makes him credible enough as a source, which suggests that the LG G6 could find its way to the United States on the said date.
Phone Arena says that such timing is interesting because around that time the Samsung Galaxy S8 will hit the market after its unveiling on March 29.
Samsung is not in the greatest light at the moment because of the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. It is unclear how it will affect the performance of their new flagship in the market.
Should users shy away from picking up the Samsung Galaxy S8, the LG G6 being available at the same time could benefit from all that.
Based on the image shared by Blass, only the Ice Platinum and Astro Black versions of the LG G6 will be the only ones to be made available in the United States. The Mystic White model might not be included.
Revealed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) last month, the LG G6 boasts 5.7-inch display with quad high-definition (QHD) resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio.
It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset with 4 GB random-access memory (RAM) and 32GB storage expandable up to 2 TB via a microSD card.
The LG G6 also features a dual camera setup both at 13 megapixels (MPs) — one with an aperture of f/1.8 and the other at f/2.4. On the front is a wide-angle 5MP camera. The LG G6 packs a 3,300 mAh battery and is water and dust resistant.
