LG G6 vs Google Pixel XL Specs, Features Comparison: LG's Newest Offering Packs a Whole Lot of Punch
LG recently announced the new LG G6, a highly anticipated smartphone in the Android arena. With its impressive specifications, many are reminded of another formidable Android smartphone, the Google Pixel XL. Here is a comparison of their specifications and features.
In terms of display, LG's offering measures 5.7 inches, while the Pixel XL comes in at 5.5 inches. The LG G6 also has thinner top and bottom bezels, perhaps to accommodate for the larger screen placed on a smaller device overall. Resolution-wise, LG's display features higher specs with 2,880 x 1,440 against the Pixel XL's 2,560 x 1,440. The LG G6 also sports an IPS screen, while the Google Pixel XL boasts an AMOLED one.
Under the hood, the LG G6 runs on a Snapdragon 821 and is powered by a 3,300 mAh battery. The Google Pixel XL, on the other hand, features the same processor but packs a bigger battery at 3,450 mAh. Both devices run on the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and have fast charging capabilities.
When it comes to memory, both smartphones have 4 GB of RAM, but the Pixel XL has the edge if built-in storage is concerned. The LG G6 only offers a 32 GB variant, while Google has a 32 GB variant and a 128 GB variant. The catch, though, is that the LG G6 has a microSD slot allowing for expandable storage, but the Pixel XL is bereft of the feature.
As for its other specifications, the LG G6 has an IP68 certification, while the Pixel XL is not water resistant at all. However, Google's device is VR-ready as it is compatible with the company's Google Daydream. The LG G6 has a 13-megapixel main shooter and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Google Pixel XL has a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-MP selfie snapper.
Of course, as with any comparison, price also greatly affects a consumer's decision. The Google Pixel XL's price tag starts at $769, while LG has not yet released pricing information for the G6. However, it is expected that it will be more expensive than when the LG G5 first arrived in the market, which saw a retail price of $630 at the time.
The Google Pixel XL was released in October 2016 and is currently available for purchase. The LG G6 will likely arrive in March or April 2017.
