Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for Four New Mysterious LG Smartphones

Korean phone maker LG announced that they will launch a new line of smartphones this coming March. Four new smartphones will be introduced with Lollipop 5.0 and a mid-range price. According to the company's press release, these phones will have "design elements and features usually reserved for premium models" but will have "exceptional prices."

Named Magna, Spirit, Leon and Joy, the new line up "builds on LG's design language to bring optimized performance and effortless user experience to a broader range of consumers," according to the release.

The four devices will have LTE and 3G versions in order to cater to markets who have different networks available. All devices will be operating on the latest Android OS, Lollipop 5.0.

Individual features and specifications of each phone were also made available with the announcement. A report on Android Police gives a quick rundown of their specifications.

The most expensive of the lot is the LG Magna. It has a 5.0 inch HD screen with a chipset of either 1.2 GHz or 1.3 GHz Quad-core. It will have internal storage of 8G with 1G RAM, and its 2,540mAh battery is removable. The front camera will be 5MP while the back camera may either be 8MP or 5MP.

The LG Spirit follows with a 4.7 inch HD screen and a 1.2 GHz or 1.3 GHz Quadcore chipset. Internal storage is at 8G with a 1G RAM. The front camera is only 1MP, but the rear camera may be 8MP or 5MP. The 2,100mAh battery will be removable as well.

The LG Leon will have a 4.5 inch FWVGA screen, and the same chipset with the Magna and the Spirit. Internal storage is at 8G will a 1G RAM. The front camera will only be VGA, but the rear camera may be 8MP or 5MP. It will have a 1,900mAh removable battery.

The cheapest and smallest of the lot is the LG Joy, with only a 4.0 inch WVGA screen. It can either have a 1.2GHz Quad-core or 1.2GHz Dual-core chipset. Internal storage can be 8G or 4G while RAM can be 1G or 512MB only. It will have the same battery as the Leon. The front camera is only VGA and the rear camera will be 5MP only.

LG has not yet announced the pricing of the phones, but they said that these new phones will be featured at the Mobile World Congress as well. The phones will already be available in selected markets this week, according to LG.
