LG Unveils Worlds' First Action Cam with LTE, No Smartphone Required for YouTube Streaming
South Korean tech giant LG has recently unveiled to the world an action camera that will have its competitors reevaluate their products. According to a report by LG Newsroom, the latest addition to the company's product line is officially dubbed as the LG Action CAM LTE. Fans who have been waiting for this will be impressed with the new device as it holds a feature that has never been seen before in other brands—a built-in LTE connectivity.
Engadget detailed that the world's first action camera with LTE connectivity allows users to stream directly to YouTube Live. This basically means that there is no need for the gadget to be connected to a smartphone in order to be able to broadcast live. Aside from its LTE, Mashable noted that the new gadget is also equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The new device captures images with its 12.3-megapixel camera incorporated with a ½.30-inch sensor. It records videos at ultra HD resolution at 30 frames per second and 720p HD resolution at 120fps for slow motion. Users also have the option to record at full HD with 1080p resolution at 60 fps. There's a limitation with broadcasting live on YouTube though. Users will only be allowed with 720p at 30fps.
LG also promises an action cam that is ready for any water adventure. 9to5 Google reported that it's said to have a rating of IP67 and comes with a complete protection from dust and sand. It can also be submerged into water with a capacity depth of up to one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. There's also a waterproof case available which will permit the camera to go deeper and longer in water for activities like surfing and scuba diving. And for smooth capture of videos, an optional mount is available.
Moreover, the LG Action CAM LTE is expected to last up to at least four hours with the power of its 1,400mAh battery. There's also a microSD card slot that can support up to 2 TB of storage. The upcoming device will be launched in South Korea next month followed with a global launch.
