'Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII' Arriving For Steam/PC On December 10
The action role-playing video game "Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII" finally gets a release date for the PC. According to a report in TechnoBuffalo, the game will be released through Steam on December 10, after several months of waiting by fans as the PC version was originally scheduled for release in spring 2015. The game is a direct sequel of "Final Fantasy XIII-2" and is said to end the story of the "Final Fantasy XIII" series.
Given this development, game developer Square Enix has finished its re-release effort for PCs for the "Final Fantasy" franchise. When the game is released, it will cost $19.99. Among the inclusions in the PC version will be most of the DLC that has been released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. DLC costumes like that of Lara Croft of "Tomb Raider" and Cloud outfits from "Final Fantasy VII" can be had for a fee. There is one costume that was not included and this is the "Final Fantasy VII" Aeris costume. All in all, there are 14 DLC that will be included in the PC release.
According to another report in GameSpot, the game will not be able to support Dolby Digital sound. The same storyline will be used in the PC version, that is the return of the main protagonist, Lightning, who needs to save the world from destruction which is about to happen in 13 days.
In addition to the DLC, the bonus items that players have been awarded with from previous games will be available to them in this version if they have save data from the previous games. Customizing the names of chocobos, map markers or schemata is also not possible in this version.
The game is expected to run at frame rates of up to 60 frames per second, which is much better than the console versions. The TechnoBuffalo report also speculated that the game's resolution will be at 1,080p, which is better than the original 720p resolution of the console versions that did not bode well with the game's fans.
